2D Virtual World Concept and Development
I studied the applications of virtual reality, ranging from conceptual renderings to the creation of physical diorama and a 3D game platform in Unity. This helped me understand gamification and interfaces, as well as developing game story and exploration in a game setting.
Target platform, visual style, game play, and reward systems were some of the topics that were taken into consideration when creating the virtual worlds.
The first project began with developing a 2D virtual world and character in Photoshop, then creating a 3D physical diorama.
The Land of Two Seasons
The next was a group project where we were tasked with creating a virtual world, named 'The Land of Two Seasons' in the game engine, Unity. Developing game play and narrative were important components when developing a functional virtual environment.
Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Reworked
In order to learn about non-linear storytelling, our class took physical copies of old Choose Your Own Adventure books and reworked stories to have new endings and illustrations, then re-inserted the new pages into the books for seamless integration into the pre-existing story.
